Tuition at Seinäjoki University of Applied Sciences is given throughout a period of 10 months (ca. 40 weeks), starting in September. The courses offered as Summer School studies can be viewed on Seinäjoki UAS's website www.seamk.fi during the spring.
On week 42 (in October) and on week 9 (February-March), most students have one week of independent study, during which contact teaching does not take place. There is also a two-week break at Christmas.
The Decree of Universities of Applied Sciences (16.6.2004/497) states that an average of 1600 hours of course work, which yields 60 credits, is required to complete a year of studies.
During the academic year 2013-2014 tuition begins on 2 September 2013 and ends on 25 May 2014. Christmas break begins on 19 December and ends on 1 January. However there is variation between dates in the degree programmes.
